Waco is a six-part series that tells the story of the infamous 1993 siege in Texas involving FBI agents and members of a religious cult called the Branch Davidians.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Waco is that it’s based on a real event.

A stand-off between federal law enforcement agencies and members of the religious cult lasted from February 28th to April 19th, 1993.

The group was led by David Koresh at their Mount Carmel compound in Texas.

In total, 76 people died during the siege, including four ATF agents and 25 members of Koresh’s group.

After 51 days, authorities launched tear gas grenades into the compound, which resulted in an explosion that killed everyone inside.

The only survivors were nine children who were able to escape by hiding in underground shelters or running away from the gunfire.

What sets Waco apart from other miniseries is its focus on showing both perspectives instead taking a black-and-white approach.
